The second week of the month is always Scrapbook Central around here as I prep for the 4×4 Scrapbooking Class each month for both local and online participants. I LOVE coming up with the kits each month! I can't believe May is our final class in this series already. In August, Song of My Heart's exclusive Scrapbooking Summer School begins, however, so there's plenty to look forward to.
The third layout for class (see layouts one and two here) was this fun hot air balloon-inspired spread featuring Flirty Flamingo and Night of Navy patterns (from the 2016-18 In Colors Stack and the retiring Floral Boutique Designer Series Papers.) The busy patterns work because they stick to the color scheme and a strict grid layout (keeping in mind that many of the patterns will be mostly covered by photos in the completed pages.)
The saying came from the Suite Sentiments stamp set (retiring list, as is the Night of Navy twine and the Irresistibly Floral specialty papers). The hot-air balloon die-cut came from the Up & Away Thinlets dies, which are not retiring. The coordinating Lift Me Up stamp set will also be in the new 2017-18 catalog, but no longer bundled together for a discount. So if you've got your eye on it, the bundle comes in wood or cling-mount and is available only through May.
The final spread for this month's class was a bright birthday layout using the cute scalloped striped patterned pages from the Sale-A-Bration reward paper pack and a fun color scheme of navy, Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaroon and Peekaboo Peach.
A scrapbooking staple stamp set, Layered Letters, is sadly leaving our product line this May. I have used Layered Letters on dozens of pages over the years and it's my all-time favorite Stampin' Up alphabet set. It includes the complete alphabet in upper case, plus symbols, and fun stamps to layer colored shapes behind the letters. I highly recommend it both for crafting and also for making school projects, display boards, and even signs and storage bin labels. It's a classic!
