Photo Tutorial: Easiest Ever Bridge Fold Card

Ok, now, this is just too much fun! My friend Linda H. recently shared a card sample with a fun new "bridge" fold I had to try. Four quick scores and one "bridge" strip later, I had a great addition to my fun-fold library… and couldn't wait to share the tutorial with YOU!

This is a really impressive looking card. if you're like me, you'll find yourself opening it and flattening it over and over because it's just kind of mind-blowing how simple it actually is compared to how cool it looks!

To begin, you'll need:

Let's start! You can get two of these card bases from one sheet of 8.5×11 cardstock. It leaves a very nice sized 3 x 8.5 inch chunk which can be easily used for other projects, so there's no waste.

That's all there is to it! And because it was assembled with the bridge strip attached while the right hand side was folded, the whole card collapses to easily fit in a regular medium envelope. Love it!

I stamped mine with sentiments from the Birthday Blooms stamp set, and then hand-cut some large roses and leaves to decorate.Side note–that is a really pretty paper pack! Love roses.

TIP: If you want to do more than just sign your name in this one, I suggest writing in the card before you add the bridge strip. That way you don't have to contort your hand awkwardly and have your writing look like a first grader did it! if you have more to say, I'd add a white panel to the center back of the card.

Thank you for coming to see what my tutorial was about today! I hope you'll turn off the computer, go get in the craft room and try this one right away. I LOVE finding easy WOW cards that aren't a pain in the pa-tookus to make. Check out the rest of the projects in the 100% Free Tutorial Library for more fun folds!

  1. Thank you for your easy-to-follow tutorial Lyssa – your card is gorgeous! Can’t wait to try it out for myself, and love how economical it is paper-wise. I have to send out a birthday card this week so that’s the perfect excuse for me to try out this fun fold 🙂

  2. This is absolutely gorgeous and sooooo simple! I have been looking for an easy bridge-card, and I was beginning to think that was an oxymoron. And then, I found this via Pinterest and it is adorable–I love it! The heavens opened, the clouds parted and choirs of angels began to sing… well, not really, but almost! Thank you for the inspiration!!!

  3. Thanks SO much for this awesome tutorial, Lyssa! What a fun card! At first I thought that you used the new Graceful Garden stamp set to stamp those roses and leaves, but it’s even easier than that! I’m still going to get Graceful Garden inked up soon, just as soon as I CASE your Bridge card! LOL!

  5. Just finished. Before gluing the right side is glued down – is it supposed to be 3D? If not I’m confused. How can I mail it?
