It's December 5th–do you know where your snowflakes are? Not hanging out in Wisconsin, that's for sure! Another unseasonably warm day here… this whole year has just been one long bizarre weather phenomenon, from the 80-degree March to the drought that prematurely sucked the color out of autumn, to a December when you can go out in short sleeves and be comfy. I KNOW in my head winter's coming, but it has been a little weird doing all these Christmas activites with zero snow.
Well, there's no time like the present. It's still early December, and there's lots of time left to pull off a handmade holiday, thanks to the quick ideas in the Procrastinating Crafter's Guide! Today I have a variety of card ideas that all use the exact same materials, and each take about three minutes to pull off (the cross one might take five).
Ok, ok–three minutes, sure, Lyssa–but are you sure a three-minute card can pack the KA-POW necessary for a Christmas card??? You be the judge!
Ummmm hmmm! What did I tell you??? Simple doesn't have to mean plain. And with Silver Glimmer paper, it most certainly doesn't have to mean boring!
All the following cards use 1/4-1/2 inch strips of Glimmer Paper, Naturals White or Whisper White cardstock, the Snow Flurry die for the Big Shot (you can sub in any snowflake punch) and Basic Rhinestones (you can sub in pearls as well). Use any stamped greeting with silver or Basic Gray ink. I used the new Greetings of the Season stamp set from the 2012 Holiday Catalog.
So what do you think? Does a three-minute Christmas card automatically have to be a cop-out? Nuh-uh!! Thanks to the Procrastinating Crafter's design help, you can totally WOW your friends and family into thinking you've been working on these babies for simply AGES, instead of whipping them up in batches of ten during the time it takes to watch a sitcom.
You can even set your kids to do the Big Shot cranking or punching while you cut the cardstock and the silver strips. Why shouldn't the FAMILY Christmas card be a FAMILY activity instead of only Mom's burdensome chore?
