Hey everybody! Welcome back to 31 Pages in 31 Days, my annual scrapbooking blog series. We're already at Day Five of the fun, and our fifth inspiration layout is one everyone can use, because it uses up SCRAPS!
Scrappers gonna scrap… as the Mandalorian says, "It is the way." We take big lovely sheets of paper and cut them up. Which leaves us with lots of lovely odds and ends we're far too thrifty to throw away.
And when we find an idea for using up those bits and pieces, we're in hog heaven because it PROVES we were right not to throw anything away!! Just in case.
I used up over twenty 1 x 6 strips on this layout–how's that for thrifty? The Playing with Patterns 6×6 paper stack has the best coordinating colors (check out the July 2020 Suite Sampler projects!) and I just knew these would come in handy. Pretend you're laying a wood floor. Stagger the "boards" at different heights, and butt them right up against each other. You can run the strips vertically like I did, or horizontally.
I knocked over a stack on my desk (surprise, surprise) and an extra stamped sunflower fell onto the page I was working on. It looked like it belonged there with all the bright colors, so that became my page elements and a headline (from Celebrate Sunflowers).
Quickie tip for you: See the pennant end on my sentiment banner? That piece started life as a 1 x 6 strip. The little chevron-style accent pieces stapled to the page above are from the end of the pennant piece being punched repeatedly until it was the length I wanted. You can make chevrons/arrows of any size, with a little practice!
Enjoying 31 Pages in 31 Days? Are you playing along? I wanna see! #31pagesin31days is quite the challenge, but it's not too late to join us and catch up! I scrapbook every day in August as a treat for myself since I rarely get to during the rest of the year.
I'm betting you could use a little treat right now yourself. How about a couple hours in the craft room tonight? See you there!
Each day you send me more inspiration! I love that the sunflower focal point was an accident! It is so happy looking on that page!
Love this page, Lyssa! I miss your school where we get to complete all your examples, but I’m glad you are giving me so much inspiration!
