I've been binge-watching the short little Say Yes to the Dress mini-episodes on YouTube (such pretty dresses!!) and decided that it would make a fantastic scrapbook page theme! Encourage any brides you know to document the day not just for the fun process of selecting the perfect gown, but also for taking pictures of the bride with her mother, grandmother, mother in law, sister, etc. What a great memory!
I wish I had pictures of the hilarious day my mom and dad and I went hunting through Minneapolis on a mission to find that dress over Thanksgiving break from college. My poor dad! We dragged him all over the city. But we had one day to shop together, or I'd have to find it on my own during the semester somehow.
And my mom left her purse at one of the stores… and we didn't find the dress until we went back to that store to fetch the purse (thankfully unharmed) and I decided to try on one more gown right before the store closed. And that was IT!!
I still laugh out loud remembering my dad saying WHY didn't you try on that dress when we were here before and save us the entire day of shopping??!!! But it was worth it because it was a floor sample and half price. I got the dress of my dreams for $250 and it didn't even need altering. Huge blessing… and very fun memories.
Using up some last bits of my Suite Sampler papers from the Peony Garden pack, plus some pieces out of the Forever Gold specialty laser-cut papers (turned to the back side, which is plain white instead of gold). I wish the photograph showed the glimmer paper better–the whole headline is sparkly and gorgeous! And I added lots of pearls for more bridal bling.
I'll have to scan a photo of my gown and add it to this post later (yes, I was married back when they still developed film and we didn't see the pictures until they were printed!) Maybe I'll even scan my album itself… we could count that for at LEAST one day of 31 Pages in 31 Days, don't you think???
See you tomorrow for Day 17 already! My has August flown!
Loved your story! I dragged my mom all over town and didn’t find what I wanted. A couple of days later she asked me if I would ever want to wear HER gown! I tried it on and went with it! My mom was able to do the alterations herself. Now I look back and think how special it was. A great memory.
