You grow, girl!

Always fun to hear that friends are expecting or that they've decided to try for a family! Last week I made up some of these cute "congrats" cards to have on hand in anticipation of good news, and for upcoming craft fairs. This is a retired Stampin' Up set called Swell News, which I embossed in Basic Black and then watercolored with the Watercolor Wonder Crayons using Aquapainters.

The flat plastic diaper pins were leftover from the last baby shower I threw, and they made a great embellishment! I like how the roundy-ness of the punches and focal image and mat complement the big round tummy on the mom-to-be. Baby bumps always make me smile. Life is so precious! And they are only little for such a tiny whisper of time. One minute they are swimming in their newborn diapers and the next thing you know, they're great big giant kids with enormous feet and wrists and ankles sticking out of their clothes.

They say don't blink, or you'll miss it. But moms can't help it. They blink because of the love leaking out their eyes. And everyone knows that every time a mom blinks, ten years go by in an instant.

Someday my glowing newly-pregnant friends will understand that. But for today, I'll just squeal and hug and promise to be there for support, as their entire world changes course over a few months' time… and blink away another tear…because I am a mom and I can't help it.
