While the cat’s away…

I am in the final countdown to Fiji at this point–SQUEE!!! Mike and I leave this weekend for the sunny islands on the other side of the world. I can't wait!! Yesterday it finally warmed up enough that I was able to wear my sandals for a few hours to try to break them in. It has been so cold and dreary, we can't wait to get outta here and go warm up! THANK THANK THANK YOU YOU YOU, my dear customer friends, for the opportunity of a lifetime! I still can't believe it–who goes to FIJI??? Who DOES that??? Apparently–me!! Whooo hooo!!!

But rest assured, I am not going to leave you without inspiration next week! I just finished editing a huge batch of gorgeous sample cards from our regional conference last weekend, and I will be scheduling them to post twice a day the whole time I am gone. We also will have to stay connected in Fiji so Mike can finish out the school year by special permission from the college, via the internet, so I MAY have time to pop in with a fantastic, make-you-terribly-jealous photo now and again from Fiji. Mostly I just plan to sleep in, stare at the ocean, soak up sun, and eat seafood all week, though, so be warned!

These two photos in this post were my swap cards for one of the organized swaps this weekend. (I tell you, we demos have this down to a science!) I hope the recipients really liked them. I used the Secret Garden stamp set and matching Framelits bundle on the tropical card above, with a sentiment from the From My Heart stamp set and a sponge dauber technique on Glossy White cardstock.

My Facebook followers will recognize this top card–I asked their opinion on where to place the Summer Starfruit flower, and the majority ruled! We have such great discussions on Song of My Heart Facebook. You should pop on over and "like" us and join the conversation!

The second swap card I made was a monochromatic (my favorite style!) vintage wedding card done in Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla. Love the soft Flower Trim with a Basic Pearl used as a center. I used Naturals Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) and First Edition newsprint-patterned DSP along with the Color Spritzer Tool, and Early Espresso Embossing Powder. The Color Spritzer Tool is my secret weapon for camoflauging any little smudges, smears, or splatters and of course the stray dots of embossing powder!

Ok–I'm off to go get my pedicure so my toes look pretty once I'm able to take off my big fuzzy socks my poor feet have lived in all winter. It's supposed to snow again this week and I'm just really hoping this is the last time. How has the winter been for you, where you live? Has it seemed never-ending to you, too?
