Ever heard of washi tape? It's such a fun new trend that has hit the papercrafting world bigtime! It's basically a masking-tape type material that is lightweight and easily tears with just your fingertips, that comes in all sorts of adorable patterns! I first spotted it on Pinterest, and immediately started collecting pins with all the adorable ways to use it. You can follow my Washi Tape Wonderfulness Pinterest board here. I squealed with excitement when I saw rolls of washi tape in the special sneak peek materials available in Stampin' Up's new This & That smash book line. And there's more to come, including florals, ginghams and chevrons, in the main catalog debuting May 31st.
Washi tape is so ridiculously easy to use… I like to use it to hold card elements down, as shown in the invitation card above. That's one of the things that makes it so amazingly fantastic for scrapbookers, too.
You can also use it underneath your focal point, like a strip or banner–super quick and easy. I used tickets and embellishments from the Artisan Embellishment kit, (#129328, $9.95).
The casual look of the torn edge just adds to the style! I love the This & That Designer Washi Tape (#131269, $4.95) and can't wait to get my hands on more colors and styles shortly!
Tomorrow I'll share a baby card I made with washi tape… it somehow did not make it into my "to be photographed" pile with the others. Such is life. Looking forward to discovering even more ways to use washi!
I love your cards! I can’t wait for my FREE shipping package to arrive on Monday! I think my ladies would love to make cards using this product!
Thanks for your inspiration and dedication! You are truly a remarkable demonstrator & person! You inspire me!
Blessings, Kim Miller
Love these cards! I especially like the last one with its bright, cherry yellow and big flower. I love how you curled all the petal edges. I am excited to get some washi tape!
I forgot to mention that I repurposed that flower from a banner my team members Cristy made! I have another card to share later with more elements from the banner. It was too pretty to throw away after SaleABration : )
Thanks for sharing your ideas on washi tape. I’ve been wanting to try some and you have inspired me.
i have to admit that I don’t think I care for the washi tape. it makes it look like that cards were just slapped together. guess it’s just not my style! but, isn’t it great that we all have different tastes! thank you for sharing.
It is definitely a casual look, Jayne! It was fun to do, though. I enjoyed experimenting with it on cards and scrapbook pages. I always like to try new things. Sometimes you find a real winner… other times, not so much. It’s all good!
