What to do with your extra wood blocks

Isn't Dimitri just too adorable? I just could not bear to throw away our friends' adorable Christmas photo card at the end of the season. So when a friend (thanks, Angie!!) gave me a whole box of wonderful wooden stamp blocks (she's going unmounted), I decided to put it to use. I hope they love it as much as I do! It turned out too cute. I kept gleefully clapping my hands as it was all coming together. Just too precious.

This one uses the largest wooden block we have–the kind that our background stamps come on. I used Newsprint and Love Letters DSP, heavily sponged with Craft Basic Black. I used Basic Black satin ribbon and some Bashful Blue taffeta ribbon to bring out the blue on Dimitri's sweater. I used the Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit in the Big Shot. And then I was tickled to pieces when I found I had one Very Vanilla Vintage Flower Adornments left in the pack I bought from the Occasions Mini.

This project is doing double duty as my share item for our demonstrator meeting Product Challenge tonight. We have a Business Challenge and a product or technique-based one every month and it is great fun to see what people come up with when they are all given the same item to start with. Sometimes it is a piece of DSP, sometimes a color combo, and sometimes an embellishment. I gave everyone a beveled windowpane for February's challenge. Can't wait to see what they made from them! I used mine to make the monogram "D" (Broadsheet Alphabet) stand out.

You've got to try this project! Lots of people are going unmounted, so spread the word that you're looking for the wood blocks, and many will let you have them just for the price of shipping. I can't wait to make a set of home decor blocks for spring with a smaller size. Fun!
