Valentine Wreath just for me

I made something pretty this weekend just for ME! Valentine's Day is a favorite holiday of mine, but I only have a few decorations for it. This year, thanks to Pinterest, I made several new things to add to my vignettes. I guess I should take photos of them to share with you, too, shouldn't I? Well, here's the wreath I made, anyway. I love how it turned out and how wonderful it looks with my red couch!

I made this wreath in just about an hour and a half total. There is a fabulous new Big Shot die in the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog that would about cut that time in half, but I made mine the old-fashioned way with the new Simply Scored scoring board. You just cut strips of patterned papers in various widths (mine vary from 1.5 to 3 inches), score every half inch, and accordion-pleat them. Attach the ends with Stick Strip, and glue down the centers to a circle punch (hot glue is best; everything else I have tried has eventually sprung due to the tension).

The paper "lollies" are hot glued to a cardboard ring (made from the chipboard backing that comes in our packs of specialty Designer Series Papers). I traced around a dinner plate to get a big enough circle. The ring is just tied to the stick wreath with twist ties, so I can remove it and replace it with the next season's colors.

I added some special buttons from my grandma's wonderful button collection, to make my wreath even more one-of-a-kind, but you could hot-glue candies or pom-poms or anything you wanted to the center of your medallions. I'm hoping to make a cute St Patrick's day one in green and orange soon, with shamrocks made with the heart punches.

What holiday could you use a few more decorations for?

I Love Stampin' Up!
