Two versions of Come to Bethlehem

Many of you have asked how on earth I pick one design to make for my own personal Christmas cards, out of all the gorgeous stamps, papers and ideas out there. The answer is that I don't pick just one–I usually make several different designs so I don't get bored making 200 of the same thing. And secondly, it has to be fairly simple, because I need so many of them. Here are two that I have put into production for this year–super simple, but meaningful and unique, I think!

The first is just Very Vanilla, with stamps from Come to Bethlehem heat embossed in metallic EP on the cover, and two tones of sponging. I experimented with a couple of different things with this card, but went with the simple one in the end. I think it will stand out amongst the glitzier ones!

The second one also uses Come to Bethlehem and I just love it. It is likewise very, very simple–just two kinds of heat embossing and a single Basic Rhinestone, on Basic Black cardstock with a white liner. The wisemen stamp and saying are embossed in Sterling Silver EP. To acheive the starry night sky, I used a stipple brush to dab Versamark ink on the skyline, then sprinkled and heat set Iridescent Ice EP.

You can also get the starry sky look by masking off the rest of the card and spraying Shimmer Spray in a concentrated area–which we had to do in a pinch last night when we ran out of Iridescent Ice at Christmas Club last night! It looks totally awesome against the black of the background. You really need to try Shimmer Spray on Basic Black cardstock, if you haven't already!

So there you go… lots more Christmas cards coming up this week from swaps I've been in, and I'll continue to share my personal cards as I make them. I also have a fantastic photo tutorial in the works–wait until you see it! This has been such a great week–we've welcomed Stephanie and Gabrielle as Song of My Heart Demonstrators, and we have all kinds of totally fun plans for the group Christmas party. I just love my job!
