When you first get a stamp like Lovely Lattice, you might think the large, single image is NOT all that versatile. Yes, it can make elegant cards in a single step, but what about after that? This weekend I played with it with the intention of coming up with at least three different ways to use this stamp to get different looks. Enjoy these ideas to get even more good out of this free Sale-A-Bration 2019 stamp set!

The first thing I tried was stamping an extra of the main image and trimming out the large and medium roses from the lower part. Those can be popped up on dimensionals and added to fill out the frame, above, below or to the side of the doily area. This technique gives the image more "presence on the page as well as adding interest with shadows and layers.

The sentiment being die-cut into an oval echoes the oval shape of the doily, too. You can also center an oval-shaped sentiment right on the doily itself for a great look.

Goodness, don't look too closely at my coloring. My poor hands have not been good in this weather. Maybe I should take a break from coloring until it warms up around here! Today it's seven degrees. BRRR!!!

The next thing I tried was stamping two of the images end to end horizontally across the page. There was some messy overlap in the middle, but that gets covered by the sentiment (which is oval, again, to echo the doilies). By the way, the sentiments I used for these cards are from Country Home, which came out in the Holiday Catalog and is still available although not pictured in any of our current books.

The last idea I tried was my favorite! As you can tell from my blog's design, I really like the gray and yellow color combination. So it was a no-brainer when it came to coloring my all-over background design created with the Lovely Lattice image.

I didn't have time enough to play to get the stamping perfect, but you get the idea anyway–stamp the main image all over so that the roses cover the whole thing. Color the background in your primary color (mine is dark Pineapple Punch) and the centers of the roses in your secondary color (light Smoky Slate). Then use a horizontal, matted belt across wherever you need to hide a mess : )

There you go! I hope you are inspired to see what else can be done with this deceptively "simple" image. it's always fun to see favorites in a new light and be feelin' the mojo afresh.

Which one of these three cards was your favorite? Leave a comment below and make my day!
