Surprise wedding cake card

Another fun pop-up card for you today! This one is for weddings, but it could easily be adapted to birthdays, too. The outside is deceptively simple… but oh, the inside!

I saw this on Stampin' Connection, a demonstrator-only forum and gallery that has literally hundreds of thousands of fun ideas like these. Honestly, if you all could see that place, it would lay to rest any fears you had about coming up with ideas if you were to become a demonstrator! The only problem is finding time to make all the things you were inspired by!

Such a cute idea, and so incredibly simple to do! You can make a cake with as many layers as you want, like the five layer cake below. Simply cut the inside of your card piece to 8×5.25, so it is smaller than the card outside. Put the folded edge into your paper trimmer, and start making evenly-spaced slices. You'll want to make progressively smaller cuts so that your cake layers get smaller as they go up.

Then, just bend the sliced parts to wrong direction when you fold the card shut, and they will pop out as the card is opened. Decorate as desired! I used Poppy Parade (a soon-to-be-retired 2010-11 In Color) with the Love & Laughter set from the Occasions Mini Catalog, and some of the great new Red Glimmer Paper with the Small Heart punch.

The "frosting" trim was the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch. Woulda been even cuter if I'd had a mini bride and groom stamp! Although I just had fresh roses on top of my wedding cake. What did you have on yours?  Or maybe you didn't have cake at all! I love how personalized today's weddings are. When I got married some years ago (ahem), weddings were still pretty cookie-cutter and there were very few options. NOBODY made their own invitations unless they were poor. And everyone always had the same things for favors. I sure wish I'd been inroduced to Stampin' Up products at that point!

I kind of envy today's brides, but I also know they're under alot of pressure to produce fantastic, memorable events on a small budget. If you or someone you know is planning a wedding, I can help! Contact me today and we can get together and talk about how you can customize your own personalized wedding invites, favors, decorations, gifts and more, to make a one-of-a-kind day that will be a completely unique of the two of you. Between Pinterest and me–we're got you covered!
