We've been making this Perfect Words graduation card at my events this week, and I love hearing about all the successes and future plans of the graduates, from high school, to college and beyond! Graduation is a BIG accomplishment and deserves to be celebrated. And the higher you go, the bigger the party, I say!
TIP: "Subway Art" is all the rage right now in stamping, and it's easily done with any sentiment set or combination of sets. It is just a collection of "randomly" placed sayings in different font styles, sizes and colors. You really should try it–it's super fun! Although if you're like me, the more stamps you add to a single piece, the increasing likelihood that you are going to make a big boo-boo on the very last stamp!!!
The stamping on this card looks complicated, but it's actually very simple. Choose 3-4 colors of ink that range from light to dark. I went with masculine combination of Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, River Rock and Basic Gray. Start in the MIDDLE of your white piece and stamp the largest, most visually "heavy" sentiment first, in your darkest color.
Then turn the cardstock 90 degree and stamp a different saying in a different color. Keep turning and stamping, alternating ink colors so you have all four colors spread evenly across the cardstock. Stamp outward until you've stamped right off the page.
I finished my card off with a bit of Basic Gray satin ribbon and a Mini Library Clip, both of which are retiring. As of today they are both still available, but the retiring accessories list is first come, first served, so make sure you get yourself over to my shopping website and check it out!
Missed this set in the catalog? It's a hostess-exclusive on page 12 of the 2011-12 Idea Book & Catalog. You can only buy it with hostess bucks, and only until May 31st, 2012! So you have just ONE WEEK LEFT to get this–better get together a book party with a couple friends, and email me, before it's too late!
Huh. That would explain why mine didn’t turn out nearly as well as yours. I missed the directions, and just stamped randomly. And I mean totally randomly. Oh well! It was fun anyway!
Thanks for brightening my VERY stressful day. Love ya!
Looks great! I was thinking “Subway Sandwich” paper look (everyone’s been in a Subway and knows their decor)
This is far better!!
LOL Dad… I’m into “up-cycling” but not THAT much : )
