Took a tour in every port, determined to get off and see the islands rather than just hang around the tourist traps near the pier and closest beaches. Barbados was HOT and muggy… every breath felt like you were in a sauna. Thank goodness for air conditioned buses! They said it was hot even for them…. Here's the view from the Edgewater Hotel where we stopped for a drink and photos. It's right by the #1 spot for surfing in Barbados, a place called the Soup Bowl.
It was so pretty… but I wasn't content to sit on the balcony when the ocean was calling my name. I wanted to put my feet in the Caribbean Sea! So I did kind of a foolish thing for a single American woman in a foreign country to do–I found a little trail and followed it down to the sea by myself.
Thankfully God watches over foolish girls as well as smart ones, and I did not wind up a statistic on international crime. Turned out to be one of my top five moments on the whole trip… because look at what I found…
Oh, it was so cool… I will never forget it. Lots of Barbados is unfortunately filthy with trash, as were all the islands we visited (which blows my mind) but this beach was just perfect. And I managed to make it back up the cliff to the tour with moments to spare despite the heat!
Wow! That view & that beach is breathtaking! Glad you had such a nice time.
