School Parties for my funny valentines

The kids had a great day at school today and came home pumped full of sugar and red food coloring, like all children should on Valentine's Day! It was also kindergarten open house at our school, so I slipped in with the other prospective students and parents to watch my baby strut her stuff. I am always blown away by the quality of the education my children are getting. I am so thankful for this amazing Christian school right in our own town!

I am beyond sad that this will be the Zwolanek family's last year with Mrs. Garrison. Our school is expanding to add a 4-K program and Mrs. Garrison will not be doing first grade any more. I haven't told Natalie yet–she will be devastated. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it! Don't we all have a soft spot for our first teacher, though? I still remember (and keep in contact with) my kindergarten teacher, Miss Creg, now a missionary to the deaf people of Ecuador.

This is Natalie with her friend Nate. She has already settled on Nate as the most likely kindergarten candidate for marriage. We have tried to tell her that she doesn't need to worry about finding her Prince Charming just yet, and that she will meet hundreds of young men before it is time to think about that–but she is pretty set on Nate! It's extra adorable because he is younger, and she is so tall that he is a good six or seven inches shorter than she is.

Then I popped over to second grade and made Build A Bear Workshop valentine's with Dan's class. The kids seemed to really enjoy it. They are getting good at stamping now that "Mrs. Z" has been bringing them craft projects for three years in a row! They were especially impressed that I let them use my fancy Stampin' Write markers. That may not have been the wisest thing I have done recently. My poor markers may never be the same again.

And here's a picture just for Betsy G, whose nieces are in my kids' classes!

  1. Hi Lyssa, I check out your ideas quite often, and noticed your post here and had to read! Just want to tell you that my children went to a small Christian school near us from kindergarten throughout high school. This is by far the best thing we ever did for them. It only got better as the years went by. Their goals, their morals and standards were greatly influenced throughtout those formative years. Kudos to you for your choices for your children!
P.S. Love your stamping ideas and projects!
