We had a smashing time at the first meeting of Christmas Club 2011. Twenty-three participants have signed up and 276 cards were worked on that night! I am so excited for the three remaining club meetings. Everyone will go home with 48 gorgeous cards and matching envelopes to send out. This is rapidly becoming one of my favorite events of the entire year.
This was the "classic" design of the evening. I try to make a variety of styles so that everyone has at least one card that makes their heart go pitter-patter every time! You can't beat blue and white for a holiday card, I say.
We embossed the trees from Scenic Season in white on Night of Navy cardstock, tore the top and bottom long edges, then stamped subtle snowflakes in the background with tone-on-tone Night of Navy ink. That got liberally sprayed with Shimmer Spray (recipe follows) to imitate a star-studded night sky.
To finish off the card, we attached them to a Confetti White base (sturdier than Whisper White and better for card bases), and added a little flibberty-gibbet of Whisper White Organza ribbon with two Silver Mini Brads. Lyssa's Shimmer Spray RECIPE: Find a spritzer bottle that sprays a nice "mist" and not a "spritz" or a "sputter." Not all bottles are alike! Mine are tiny Dove brand travel hairspray bottles. Fill half full with 70% rubbing alcohol (not 99% because something about it tends to clog the nozzle). Add about a quarter teaspoon or so (no need to measure exactly) of shimmer paint. Champagne Gold is my preferred color by far, but some really like Frost White. I don't recommend Platinum at all.
Shake well every time you use it. If you don't have the Color Catcher, cut the flaps off a small cardboard box and put your projects in there to spritz them, so that the over-spray doesn't coat everything with a fine mist of gold.
