I had to get this hostess set from the new catalog as soon as I laid eyes on it, and I knew it would be perfect for an anniversary card for Mike. Waaaaaay back when we were first dating, quite soon in our relationship, he told me he was "nuts" about me, and I was so surprised (and giddy with disbelieving joy, let's face it) that I just laughed. He was a little shocked at that, but we got it all sorted out, and now I'm pretty sure there is no doubt in that beautiful boy's mind that I am absolutely, completely, over-the-top, make-you-want-to-hurl-it's-so-sappy, "nuts" about him, too.
Don't leave!! It's ok, I promise I'm done. Yesterday was our 17th anniversary, and we went to a gorgeous outdoor wedding (I actually assisted with the decor; will blog about that shortly as you will LOVE the theme). I love it when we have a wedding to go to on our actual anniversary. It just seems like a re-covanenting of a sacrement, and it's a sweet reminder of the hot and sticky late August morning when I ran into the new history professor on campus.
Ok. This time I PROMISE I am done. Look, here's another card, made with the same hostess set but some different stamps and one of the other sentiments. Nothing to do with anniversaries, promise! This one's for a friend who I hope to meet with for coffee very soon.
Cards are powerful. If you think about it, there are cards at all the major events of our lives–birth, graduation, marriage, death. It's as if we intuitively know need a tangible reminder of the mutal joy and thoughtful care of friends, a reiterating of the bonds of family that continue as the generations unfold. A simple visual that people in our lives rejoice when we rejoice and hurt when we hurt. Can you think of someone who needs one from you right now? I encourage you to act on that impulse. Don't just hit the highlights of someone's life–the births, graduations, marriages–send them at the low points, the medium points, and every point in between.
I am so grateful that a love like yours and Mike’s exists in the world today. I adore the little inside jokes that my husband and I have…and I LOVE that you found a stamp set that has your sentiment on it. <3
