Hey y'all! Today I'm sharing a cute idea for making a stencil from a die-cut shape and using it to sponge a fun and colorful fall tree.
I used the maple leaf shape from the Leaflets Framelits, Delightful Dijon, Cajun Craze, Always Artichoke and Chocolate Chip inks, sponge daubers and the Sheltering Tree stamp set for this project.
First, die-cut your shape. Position the window area of the shape over your notecard.
Sponge on your lightest color first, using sponge daubers.
Without moving the stencil shape, add your second color, blending with the first.
Add your third color. It may look strange and muddy, but when you stamp the tree branches over it, it will be amazing!
Add your sentiment and you're good to go! What do you think? Is that not a sweet little technique? If you love quick cards, check out the Ready to Make It? section, with only cards that take 15 minutes or less to make.
Thanks for stopping in today!
I love this card. Great idea and Thank You for sharing. Just finished all of my Thanksgiving cards today, so will try this out for my Aunt.

It seems we all need quick cards at one time or another. It’s always good to have an idea in the back of your mind that will dig you out of a hole…fast. Thanks for the quick technique.
Who would have thought??? That came out pretty cool! I’ll have to remember that for next year. 🙂
Lyssa, what a beautiful card and a great idea. My mind is spinning with possibilities for other stamps and stencils ideas.
Thank you.

This is a great technique that I haven’t seen before with the Sheltering Tree set. Thank you again for the inspiration!
