Mini Photo Tutorial: fancy borders with the Chevron Punch, part three

Continuing a little three-part series on the versatile new chevron border punch from Stampin' Up! I hope you've been enjoying the ideas and maybe I've helped you see this punch in a totally different way.

Above is a quick treatment that looks really complicated! All it is, is a strip of Pool Party cardstock punched with the Chevron Border and adhered to the Night of Navy cardstock. Then I went back in and added Night of Navy chevron punched pieces adhered facing the other direction. It's the same technique shared in part one, but adding the base color instead of the strip color makes it look completely different!

I discovered quite by accident that you can enlarge the size of the chevrons by punching once, then sliding the cardstock forward or backwards slightly and punching again. Here's a visual of three different sizes. The one in the middle is the normal, ordinary punch.

You can see, depending on how far I slide the punch, how you can get nice fat chevrons and medium-thick ones, as well as slender ones, too. That right there is worth the price of admission : )

My friend Jane asked if people were weaving ribbon through the chevron punch, and I hadn't seen any samples with that, but I tried it last night and it's super cute! Here I wove four pieces of single-stitched narrow grosgrain ribbon through in a basketweave pattern. It also looks cute with a single ribbon.

And last but not least, and probably actually not last either, since I know I'll be playing with the punch some more as soon as my schedule calms down and I get a minute… this is just the tip of the iceberg of what can be done with this punch! On the left we have a double chevron piece that would make a great accent for a scrapbook page. On the right is a cool border strip made by inserting a strip of cardstock half way into the punch, so that one side of the chervron was notching out along the edge. Then I flipped it and did the same to the other side. You can either line them up or offset them on purpose, depending on the look you're going for.
