Mini Milk Carton Birdhouses–so cute you’ll croak!

Oh my word, aren't these the most adorable things EVER? I finally had time to make these when I was prepping for the April Big Shot Club last Monday, and I was just tickled pink. I have been wanting to try for quite literally months. We had so much fun making these miniature birdhouses from the Milk Carton die and the XL Bird and Branch punch! Here's a quick how-to:

Create your milk carton just like usual, but instead of closing the top down into the regular shape, leave it steepled up and cover it with a Top Note roof. Now, the Top Note has been trimmed and the excess piece put back on–that's not just for looks, but is crucial to balancing the project so it hangs level when suspended.

Make sure you poke your hole and insert your twine in your roof BEFORE you Sticky-Strip it to the carton–ask me how I know!

I used the largest Scallop Circle punch for the base, so your bird has something to sit on. And then here's a tip for you–if your balance is off and Mr. Bluebird sags, you can embellish the birdhouse on the back and sides with little flowers and leaves, to help it hang better.

Wouldn't these make the BEST CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS??? How about a cardinal and a snow-covered roof? AWESOME!

Ridiculously fun, quick and totally cute… best project EVAH! So go make some this weekend, and call me if you need to order the Milk Carton die or the Bird punch or both, and I will give you a free birdy-house to use as a guide for making your own, if you remind me. You know how I get!
