Love & Care Summer Mini Catalog hostess set

So excited to get my hands on this hostess set out of the new SUmmer Mini Catalog (click here to view!) Stampin' Up, out of sheer awesomeness, gave each demonstrator who signed someone up during Sale A Bration 2011 their choice of the two hostess sets from the upcming mini, totally free! It was a hard choice–have you SEEN them? Wow! But I finally went with Love & Care, because I wanted to do this technique–it's an oldie but a goodie–baby wipe as ink pad, sometimes called reinker baby wipes.

All you do for this technique is fold a baby wipe several layers thick, then drop or draw lines of ink refills on it (make sure you have a plastic plate or something under the wipe in case the ink goes all the way through). It's awesome because you can make patterns and shade variations with the ink, and then when you stamp with it, your image has all those cool variations.

My color scheme was Peach Parfait, very Vanilla and Garden Green for cardstock, with Wild Wasabi, Tangerine Tango, and Daffodil Delight for the inks. Isn't that a pretty combo? So summery! I made three cards with the same baby wipe before the inks got all mooshed together, but if you clean your stamp between each inking, you can make the baby wipe pad last even longer.

I love using the perfectly color-coordinating poly-twill In Color ribbon, too–BUT this time I had used Very Vanilla as my neutral, and not Whisper White–so the white edging on the ribbon stuck out like a sore thumb! But if that ever happens to you–remember this easy TIP: just use a light colored marker to dye that ribbon lickity-split. I used Daffodil Delight in the first photo, and So Saffron in the second. It just takes the edge off that white and helps the ribbon seem more like part of the card instead of an afterthought.

If you like Love & Care, remember that it's only available for hostesses, so it's time to schedule a workshop! Let's do it! I have no openings in May, but the retirement list comes out in June, and the new catalog begins in July, so those are both great times to have a show. And schedule it before the end of the SU year in order to get an invitation to my exclusive hostess appreciation night!
