Ever set out to make a card you had in your head, only to wind up making something totally different but even cooler? That happened to me this weekend. I was inspired by the tiny flower print in the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper pack, and envisioned the ombre card above.
But in the process of coloring the ombre with my Stampin' Blends markers, I happened to flip it over and spotted a fun and funky pattern had bled through and was developing on the back!
For whatever reason, the combination of bold black and white stripes with the soft, spotty watercolor effect just really seemed like fun, so I quickly colored another piece of the flower paper in the ombre and made the second card using the back side of it!
How fun is that? Not sure it qualifies as a new "technique," but it certainly was a fun way to create a trendy background.

Let's talk about the Petal Passion papers for a minute. You don't have to color them–they're amazing in black and white, but you can spritz, sponge, brayer, stamp, watercolor and marker on them. I do really like monochromatic color schemes, though, so I made one more card to showcase that tiny floral print in it's original state.
