Inspired by a cute card by demo Karen Duke, I made this valentine for my husband with the cute set "Things I Love." It makes me laugh when I see that set (page 54 of the main catalog), because there are several images you can use–chocolate, new shoes, shopping– but you'll notice there is no image of a STAMP! So I can safely say I love my husband more than chocolate, without having to pause and wonder if I love him more than stamping. Hee hee!
The background on this card is kind of fun. I used the direct-to-paper technique with my Pretty in Pink ink pad on Very Vanilla cardstock, in all four directions. I also added a couple of Pretty in Pink eyelets and a twist of the Pretty in Pink satin ribbon. After all, it was for Valentine's day, so I had to work in a little pink or red even on a guy card! Otherwise I stuck to all the browns in the Earth Elements color family (Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, and Chocolate Chip), and added a knot of hemp twine to the satin, to make it more masculine.
I'd show you the card I got in return, but I think I'd break out in hives posting a Hallmark card here. Hey, I'm just thankful the man gives me cards… I'm not picky where they come from! Ditto for all the great birthday cards yesterday, everyone. I appreciate them! I have people tell me all the time they're intimidated to make a card for me for Christmas or whatever. Please don't be! I LOVE seeing you work with products I helped you pick out and learn to use while we stamped and snacked and laughed together.
