I call this my "Hannah Montana" card because the colors and stars reminded me of the look I see all over the stores in the little girls' section! Funny thing, my kids don't even know who Hannah Montana is. She is just not even on our radar… and that's fine with me, given the propensity of child actors to grow up and fall from their pedestals quite publicly.
Anyway, I do think the card turned out cute! I can't even remember where I was going with it in the beginning… it started out without the Pixe Pink torn strip, but I added that to bring out the rosey tones in the Fine Cosmos glitter I used on the star. There's tone-on-tone black embossing on the Basic Black background using the Classic Stars jumbo wheel and a homemade Versamark cartridge. I stamped the "shine" saying in Versamark ink across the bottom of the Bermuda Bay portion using the Contempo Alphabet, and heat set it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder–so it sparkles, too!
The star is cut from chipboard on the Big Shot, using the Punch Windows accessories for the Movers & Shapers die, then painted with a mixture of glitter and Crystal Effects. The best thing about using glitter that way is that there is NO MESS–no flying glitter, no sparkles on your hands and eyebrow and nose later. It dries fairly quickly and the glitter is sealed INSIDE the Crystal Effects, so it doesn't come off at all. Amazing!
I finished off the star with a punch from the small star punch and another coat of Crystal Effects. Honestly, you have got to try that stuff. Then I attached the star to the card with dimensionals. There you go… a card for your tween girl… change up the colors and it would work for a boy as well. Or make it in pastels and it would fit with a princess theme, too!
