Elegant Easter

Pink and brown for Easter? I know, I know, it's pretty non-traditional! But I like it. I was thinking about dogwood blossoms when I came up with it. I used Early Espresso and Pink Pirouette for these two Easter Blessings cards I made using the Fabulous Florets and Crosses of Hope stamp sets.

It's hard to see in the photos, but there is a subtle filagree cross above and to the right of the greeting. The blossoms are hand-cut and popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals so they really shine. There's also a thin application of Shimmer Spray you can't see here, painted on by hand with a paintbrush so it is only on the blooms and nowhere else. Quite pretty!

My original card was this one with no sponging. I made a smudge on my second one, as often happens, and sponged the edges to cover it up. Then I couldn't decide which I liked better–the vintage look of the sponged one, or the clean crispness of the unsponged one. What do you think?

  1. These are beautiful Lyssa. I think I like the un-sponged one better personally. As always your ideas and cards are great.

  2. I like the un-sponged one better for some reason–maybe because the sponging seems to take away from the crispness of the images? However, both cards are great!

  3. kinda partial to the vintage one…I think pinks and browns are just begging to be vintage anyway and I love dogwood! My grandmother had a dogwood tree in her front yard and I always think of her when I see dogwood.
