Double Decker gift box

Looking for something different for your treats this year? I created a fun double-decker box last week that will be adorable and easy to make! The size makes it perfect to sit on someone's desk or counter at work, but it's not soooo huge that it costs fortune to fill it with goodies. Best of both worlds!

Look at this cute Valentine version I made!

I shared these boxes live on Facebook last night–here's the video!

Let's make it together!

To make the Double-Decker gift box you'll need three half sheets of cardstock, measuring 5.5 x 8.5 inches each.

Score one of the sheets at 2, 4, 6, and 8 on the long side. Turn it 90 degrees and score at 4 inches on the short side. This will be the center tower box. If you want patterned paper panels, cut four 1.75 x 3.75 inch pieces.

Score the other two sheets at 3.25 and 6.5 inches on the long sides, then turn 90 degrees and score at 3 inches on the short side. These two pieces will combine to make the bottom box. For patterned panels, cut four 2.75 x 3 inch pieces.

Snip up to the single horizontal score line on each sheet, creating the box flaps. Adhere the patterned paper to each panel before assembling the boxes. Glue on the side flaps first, then fold the bottom flaps in and secure.

Finally, add adhesive to the bottom of the inside "tower" box and press firmly into the center inside of the bottom box. If it's a little off center, it won't show when the paper shreds and candy are inserted!

The best source for paper shreds is Dollar Tree–you get a nice big (compressed) bag of shred for a buck and it will last forever. Get your candy or treats from there as well, and you're all set!

Thanks for watching my quick project! I'll be back soon to share a Double-Decker Easter Basket, too!
