Disney Day Four

It was soooo hard to pull ourselves out of bed on our third straight park day, but we did it! And I'm glad we didn't miss Animal Kingdom. We did leave my mom behind because she was pretty tired out, and I will say my palms were very glad for the break from pushing the wheelchair! Everything was pretty far apart in this park and there weren't as many air-conditioned shows for much-needed breaks from the heat. I was a little underwhelmed until we got on the Kilimanjaro Safari and the animals totally stole the show.

Even though we didn't get on the safari until the afternoon, we saw lots of animals right up close! It was fun to see and appreciate God's creation when we'd been marvelling at man-made things all week. Animatronics and special effects are cool, but they'll never replace the real thing!

My other favorite part of the day was the Festival of the Lion King. That was awesome! And we had such good seats, right next to Simba. The acrobatics, fire-eating, African dancing and aerial artists were just amazing. And we did really love the Finding Nemo show. The puppetry was just beyond words.

It was such a relief not to "have" to stay for a fireworks show that night! We headed back to the Boardwalk around five, and had a great dinner with Grandma, then enjoyed the wonderful pool since the sun had gone down enough for my mom to be out. It felt SO good on my sore feet! By that point in the week I was down to two pairs of flip-flops–that was all I could fit on.
