Been having a little fun lately using up old DSP and such from my scrap bin as I sorted out retiring from staying colors. Here's a card I made with some pieces of the Night and Day double sided specialty paper from the Holiday mini catalog. You can REALLY see the Smooch Spritz on this one!
Below is a super-simple card made with just a strip of the Sending Love specialty glittered DSP, a crumple flower, and a simple sentiment. The crumple flowers are great fun–you can make them by layering two or three of any of our flower punches, such as the XL Fancy Flower Punch, the Five-Petal Flower punch, or the Scallop Circle punch. All three of the cards shown here use the Five Petal Flower punch.
You then crumple them into tiny balls, then smooth out the wrinkles. Repeat
as often as you like. Eventually the cardstock layers begin to separate
and you'll have even more layers of petals. Any brad or button looks good in the center. And you have a super cute, custom embellishment that perfectly matches whatever you are making. You could whip out a lot of these in a hurry as thank-yous or a last-minute gift.
I was headed for vintage when I made this card. It started out going to be a baby card and actually where it wound up, it could be anything! The striped paper is from the Build A Bear Pawsitively Prints DSP, but it didn't have any yellow in it, so I added a Barely Banana stripe in with my marker. Then it coordinated better with my Eyelet Border "lace" strip that was made from some Sunshine Garden DSP (I told ya I was using up some OLD stuff!)
So there you have it–crumple flowers are great fun–try them! They're a good way to use up small pieces of cardstock and clean out that scrap bin. Happy Stamping!
