Clean and simple Swirly Bird boat cards

Clean and simple boat card nautical stampin up

There's not much I like better than sitting down to crack open a brand new stamp set! I was so excited to see Swirly Bird available early to Stampin Up demonstrators (it's coming for all y'all on June 1st in the new Idea Book & Catalog!) At first glance it is TOTALLY not my style, but for some reason I just fell in love with it.

But where to begin??? When I'm a little overwhelmed, I start with the catalog samples and go from there. So, when you get your book, look on page 152 in the left hand lower photo and you'll see the first thing I decided to make, the little boat card.

Suggested Color Combination:

For these two cards I experimented with two different ways to make the ocean. The first is a swash stamp from Over the Rainbow, stamped-off three times without re-inking between images. The second was a spatter stamp that actually comes with Swirly Bird, which I stamped multiple times in Mint Macaron and Dapper Denim ink.

I can't decide which is my favorite–I like them both, for different reasons! The stamped swashes were quick and clean, but the spattered dots look like an interesting and fun art project.

Which is your favorite?
