Classic Hawaii Beach…Hapuna State Park

DSCF2061

Just up the road from our resort was the most perfectly classic Hawaiian beach you could imagine. We didn't see it until our last morning or we might have spent more time there. We took off in our rental car early on Friday morning and went up to North Point in search of Kamehameha and also just to say we had been literally all around the island and also point to point.
This was a fun stop and we enjoyed watching the surfers. I did not know that each wave is unique. I just assumed it was pretty much the same wave rolling in over and over. Not so! They're all different, coming in at slightly different angles, some stronger, some weaker. It was fascinating.

Here I am about to get soaked up to my knees and not realizing it. Ha! Shoulda put the suit on.

We did the classic stroll along the beach thing… it was romantic. The sand on our bare feet felt fantastic–not gritty like most sand but fine and almost powdered. But we had place to go and things to see before we headed back to the airport, so we hopped back in the car and headed onward. Our next stop I already blogged about here Lapahaki Historical Site which is for some reason out of chronological order, not sure what I was thinking about.
