Chalkboard technique

Have you tried the super easy and cool chalkboard technique yet? All you need is Whisper White or Very Vanilla Craft ink, dark colored cardstock such as Basic Black or Chocolate Chip (or the upcoming Early Espresso, yum!) and the Stampin' Pastel chalks.

Most people use Versamark with their chalks–and rightly so, as it is a great sticky ink and you can do all kinds of fun things with the poppin' pastels technique. But on dark cardstock, the chalk color just will not show up–unless ou do the chalkboard technique! So here it is–

TECHNIQUE: Stamp your image on the dark cardstock using the sticky craft ink. Before it dries, use a sponge dauber to pounce the desired color of chalk onto the ink. "Pounce" rather than "rub," so you aren't smearing the wet ink on your project. The chalks will stick to the ink very well, and stand out vibrantly against the dark colored cardstock, because of the lighter color of craft ink underneath.

In both of these samples I used Chocolate Chip cardstock and Very Vanilla ink. I used Vintage Vogue for the first sample, and For All You Do for the second one. The chalkboard technique works for just about any kind of card–give it a try today!
