Bevel bracelet and other random things I accomplished this week

I think I should start a new weekly blog feature. Maybe call it Random Roundup or something like that, given my penchant for aliteration. Just a post with all the little random projects I have made lately, that really aren't enough for a whole blog post by themselves. You know, those cards you made with the scraps leftover from another one… the home decor project you tweaked a bit so it was more personalized… the repurposed household item that didn't quite turn out like the DIY pin on Pinterest promised it would…

Anyway, new blog feature or not, here is a random roundup! I wanted to share this bracelet I mentioned on Facebook (have you liked SOMHS on FB yet? Well, get your backside over there and participate in the super fun (and likewise random) conversations!). It purchased the plain bevel bracelet at Hobby Lobby last weekend and cut little squares of my favorite Designer Series Paper, Patio Party, to fit. (No, I didn't have a punch for this job, and I still lived. True story.) Then I filled the little metal squares to the rim with Crystal Effects, which dries rock hard and totally clear. Super fun project and quite inexpensive! Love it!

I also got my first Paper Pumpkin in the mail and spent a fun 30 minutes with that "easy-peasy-craftin's easy" kit. I made one card like the sample in the instructions and then made the next three totally different. Is anyone surprised by that??? I did add some ribbon before I sent these (yup, they're already in the mail) because I just can't resist adding a little textile to everything… oooh oooh speaking of textiles–don't forget that all our Designer Series Fabric is 50% off until March 31st!!

I totally forgot to take photos of the welcome gift and pillow gifts I made for the Creative Escape scrapbooking retreat, but one of them was the cute Jelly Belly treat bags like the hostess gifts I've shown on the left here with different toppers. The colors matched the Sent with Love travel-themed projects we made that weekend–Calypso Coral, Pink Pirouette and Pool Party!

Actually my whole weekend was random, because my big project for the retreat was to make up all my leftovers from workshops and classes since the last catalog came out. It was kinda fun making up all the pre-cut cards, just nice brainless work while we watched Downton Abbey and chatted. I also finally finished off these cute little one-sheet albums I learned to make on the Alaskan incentive cruise. They'd been hanging around for a really long time!

Do you have a lot of random half-finished projects laying around? Maybe you need to designate a "finish it up" weekend, too!

  1. Lol Lyssa, you’ve hit a nerve! I am a great starter but not so good finisher, full of good ideas and intentions but not at completing them 😉 Love the randomness – it’s an art form in itself!

  3. I just chose the exact same thing to do at my first “retreat”…finishing up cards/projects I had sitting around. I was amazed at how much I was able to get done with no distractions…well, other than good food & conversations.
