Batty for Burlap

IMG_2475

I have a new obesession… burlap banners! As a party planner and wedding coordinator, I've always loved making banners. But there is something extra fun about taking an earthy, homely material like burlap and turning it into something beautiful. The juxtaposition of the heavy weave and coarse threads with the delicacy of lace or satin ribbon or vintage glass buttons is just delicious (and as you can see from hot pins on the wedding boards of Pinterest, many brides agree with me!)

I made a bunch of these little bitty banners to hang on picture frames or wreaths. They're so tiny and cute! And they were a fantastic way to use up odds and ends of buttons and embellishments I had leftover.

You can find a use for even the smallest scraps of burlap ribbon. See the cute little muslin gift bag Jenny Peterson gave me at the Advisory Board retreat last September? It adds so much to the fun stamped tag. Just realized I accidentally watermarked this photo with my "created by" logo–just to be entirely clear, Jenny is actually the talented artist on this adorable project, not me.
