Baby Gift for a Friend

IMG_2514

Over on the Song of My Heart Facebook community page we were discussing our projects for the weekend and I wanted to share mine. I finished this up Thursday night for my friend Theresa, and gave it to her at her mom's annual show on Friday, because it's tradition that we always have a workshop slash birthday party that weekend. So this year for her birthday, she got a baby gift. Maybe not fair, but she liked it anyway. And I liked it, because I set all the card supplies out and told them to go for it and I got to hold the baby the whole time : )

I'd made a home decor piece for baby's older sibling two years ago, so I knew that was where I needed to start. I used a pre-made, grooved frame and created a bunch of small, interchangeable decorated pieces. They can be slid out and rearranged to fit different sizes of photos, if she wants. Theresa's not that into pink (yet… these baby girls tend to cause latent urges for bows and Barbies to surface, I've noticed) so I used just a little Blushing Bride and tempered it with Chocolate Chip, Pistachio Pudding and Crumb Cake.

I mass-produce things so often, it is really nice to just sit down once in a while and make a completely one-of-a-kind thing for someone in particular. Especially when that someone is a teeny tiny warm little baby in footie pajamas and a hairbow that keeps sliding out of her wispy hair! You can actually see a pic of me and baby on Instagram. Follow my impromptu stampin' adventures there under the username Pudgiesmom!

Are you working on a special gift right now? Or do you have Christmas presents in the works? That reminds me–I need to get started on my annual calendars for the Grandmas! They'd never let me forget it, if I didn't give those out every year!
