Amazing acetate spa gift box great for teachers, co-workers

I'm so happy Stampin' Up started carrying these awesome clear acetate card boxes! I am finding all kinds of uses for them, not just for card sets. This project is something I shared with my team this month for our September "Back to School" challenge. It's a little mid-semester pick-me-up for the teacher who needs it! The box just fits three tealights and two packs of bath salts.

If you'd like to recreate this project, you'll want to cut patterned paper 4.5 inches wide by however long you prefer it to be. Longer will cover more of the case and leave less window space; shorter will still add color but exposes a lot of the clear. After you decide about how much of the case you want to cover, score the paper on the long side so that it gives you a 3/4 inch-deep fold. That's the thickness of the clear case.

My top band was 4.5 wide by 2.75 inches long, for instance, and scoring it so it had the .75 inch-deep fold in the center left me with one-inch showing on the top and back of the case. I know this sounds slightly complicated, but you will see exactly what I mean when you go to make yours. You can always just fold the paper around the case and eyeball it, but scoring makes it look perfectly professional.

The best part of this project is the awesome gold foil paper and accessories I used for it! Here's the supply list:

I bet your mind is percolating with ideas to fill these fun new card boxes! What a great gift for teachers, neighbors, co-workers, club members and friends this Christmas. I can't wait to make up some fun ones with Ginger Pumpkin scented candles and hot apple cider packets. Or hot cocoa packets and some of those fun new flavored marshmallows.

  1. What a great gift idea Lyssa! I love having non-candy gifts in my stash, and this one will be a great idea for neighbor gifts too. Thanks so much for sharing, I can’t wait to try this myself.

  2. The bath salts were from Walmart or possibly Shopko. I think you can find this brand at Target as well. Look for packages that are tall rather than wide, if you want to include tealights along the side. The tealights I used are from Partylite.
