SSS 2019 Header-001

Hey everyone! Welcome back to 31 Pages in 31 Days! We're on Day Eight of our annual scrapbooking blog series and having a ball getting pages accomplished. If you haven't yet joined our Facebook group, you're missing out on even more inspiration being shared by those playing along with the challenge. Hop to it!

Today's inspiration page comes from the Week Two class packet I just mailed to my Scrapbooking Summer School participants. It's a fun, bright birthday spread that works for ANY age and ANY (almost!) amount of pictures. Simply fill in as many of the photo boxes as you'd like.

PRO TIP: I love doing tag-style headlines–they never go out of style, and they add so much texture and interest to a page. I liberally sprinkled this headline with a "spill" of rhinestones and sequins, and had all the arrows pointing to it as well. Those are small things that go a long way towards helping a headline stand out on a busy page.

If you're following along and want to make this page at home, here's what I used!

I also used two retired Stampin' Up punches on this page–the arrows and the tags. You can sub in any tag punch and plain block-style arrows can be created with any square punch.

  7. I don’t scrap as often as I should. My first real scrapping was of the first vacation that my husband and I took as empty nesters in 2001 – a trip to Ohio. I am going to a crafting retreat in Nov. You have inspired me to take my scrapbooking supplies with me.

  11. It’s so weird to say, but I’ve been scrapbooking for 20 years or so, since I was a young teen. My first album covered a summer road trip around Michigan with my grandparents and sister.

  12. I started making 12 x 12 layouts in 1991.. My first would have been doing Chrismas layouts for the family. I then switched to cards once my kids graduated High School. Use to make 500 cards a year from 2010 to 2015 to send to Operation Write Home which shipped overseas to military. personnel for their use. Was sad when that ended I felt so good out the giving.

  13. I started scrapbooking in 1997. They look funny now, I used a lot of fancy scissors, and only 8 1/2 by 11 wildly patterned pages. Knowing which page I did first is easy for me. I only scrapbook for my children, so it was a page of my youngest son’s 9th birthday.

  14. I tried scrapbooking many years ago and got so discouraged because I was always so far behind on getting my projects finished. So now I make cards! I love getting card ideas from your awesome scrapbooking page layouts!

  15. I kept a scrapbook when I was in 6th grade in 1965, and I still have it! However, modern day scrapbooking started in 1994 and was a trip to California.

  16. My sweet cousin who is like a sister to me came from Macon to visit. She is a fantastic scrapbooker and sewer, etc. She happened to bring a craft for my daughter and me to complete. After 30 minutes of pure misery, I handed my craft back to her. I was thru with it and never wanted to touch another craft item. Today my craft items spread from my craft room into another bedroom and the garage. Needless to say, I am glued to your channel and YouTube in general. You do an amazing job as our demonstrator.
