Manger's reception was a tad more exciting than it should have been when an accident during the "Passo Del Muerte" cut the rodeo short. One of the riders broke his leg and NO I didn't take a picture although it happened not twenty feet from us! "Pass of Death" is right! Yikes! I am hoping for an update on the poor man tomorrow. Shelli promised she would get his address and we can all send him a get well card.
We did get quite a bit of rodeo in before the accident. It was very well done. There was a family of ropers, some horse dressage, bronc riders and bull riders. That's Sterling Gardner, Shelli.'s husband, with the Stampin' Up logo flag. He is a big horseback rider.
So when it became clear that it was pretty serious, we went right from the outdoor arena to the fiesta and enjoyed dancers and a strolling mariachi band while we waited for our food. Isn't the room pretty?
There were buckets of real Gerbera daisies on the tables, and our stamp sets were there wrapped in woven towels with a big flower tying them shut.
We got so much fun stuff! As we got on the buses, Dale Fillmore (CEO of SU) gave us each a "rebozo" shawl in a bright color. Mine is the Pacific Point blue one I am wearing in the top photo–there were melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry and Rich Razzleberry, too. Then as we entered the arena we were given a maraca (sp?) shaker rattle thingymabob with "manager's recption 2010" painted on it. Plus the cute Love Bandit set from the new Occasions Mini Catalog!! And the woven towel, too… very nice gifts!
I am SO stuffed right now! We had a fabulously tender steak, two gigantic shrimp, and a chicken enchilada plus rice and beans and a carmelized onion and mushroom base. Can you say YUM???!! Empanadas in three flavors made for a sweet dessert. The salad course had jalopeno corn muffins and a salad with chipotle dressing, avocado and all kinds of yummy stuff. I have gained at least twenty pounds this trip so far if I gained an ounce, I swear.
Fun photos–everything is so colorful! Wow, 1 in 10 shows someone is injured. I guess I will have a new appreciation the next time I watch something like that.
Lyssa, thank you so much for all the pictures and coverage of Leadership. I have really enjoyed it. It made me feel like was there.
