Shepherd’s Care cards with masking techniques

I do love a good technique stamp set! You know, the kind that just call out for cool backgrounds and lend themselves to a variety of fun ways to learn some new skills. Shepherd’s Care (from the Stampin’ Up 2024 Holiday mini catalog) is definitely one of those intriguing sets you can do SO many things with! The card above was made just by moving a sheet of torn cardstock and blending at different intensities to create layers of Judean hills for the cute little sheep to wander.

I recently did a stamp camp with my friend Kristine and I chose Shepherd’s Care for one of my hour-long sessions. We made a great variety of WOW cards really easily and with a surprisingly small number of supplies (Blending Brushes are a must-have!). Here’s a few of my favorite designs!

Masking off the front of the shepherd, we used post-it notes to create a slanted beam of starlight with the Blending Brushes and Lemon Lolly and Crushed Curry yellow inks. What a WOW way to highlight your main image! Don’t forget the bling and the star!

Shepherd’s Care isn’t just for Christmas cards, either! It makes a lovely sympathy card any time of year. You can see me make this card below–it only took a couple minutes and it has a really cool effect.

The entire PDF of our stamp camp including my sessions is now available in My Layout Library for subscribers. It’s worth way more than the $9 monthly fee! I hope you’ll check it out and feel free to fire up the printer and print yourself a ton of project sheets–there are thousands of dollars in resources in the Library and they’re just waiting for you to download and PLAY!

  1. I really like this stamp set after seeing what you’ve done with it. Wasn’t on my want list but now it’s ‘I’ve got it’ and eager to get at my cards with it.
Thank you for showing me why this set is so versatile and a ‘need’.
