Sneak peek of my swap card for Founder’s Circle 2011

DSCF8676 copy
What kind of card could I possibly think was good enough to make 123 of for Founder's Circle?!! This one, turns out! Everybody quick reassure me I'm not nuts and that this IS cute enough and people will like it!

People who have been to Founder's before tell me the swaps are good but tend towards simple–these are business-minded ladies who want practical ideas rather than over-the-top cards. I hope I struck a good balance–a pretty card that doesn't require a ton of technical skill and is frugal with embellishments, with a focus on good old-fashioned stamping.

It's too late to turn back now anyway–I have 90 of them done. I figured out it takes me almost exactly and hour and a half to make 20 of them. I am SICK to death of it : ) But every once in a while I do get a that little "oooh, this is GOOD!" feeling back and I keep plugging away. I MIGHT, if I can stand it, do this card in my clubs and workshops this month–but if you want me to, you're gonna have to bring me chocolate AND say "pretty please."

Now that we're in September, it's starting to sink in that the retreat is less than two weeks away. Wow… I still haven't gotten the phone call that they made a mistake and my name was on the list in error. I guess I won't believe it until I walk in the resort in St. George and there's a room with my name on the door!

Did you know this is the ONE time of the year that Shelli swaps? I think I'm more excited about that than anything… I will personally OWN a Shelli swap!!! I think I might frame it!!

Edited to Add: Many of you have wondered what set these stamps are from. I can't believe I forgot to mention it! I used the Woodgrain background, and the other two stamps are from the You Are Loved set in the 2011 Holiday Mini Catalog, page 40. I am really excited about the possibilities for this set, far beyond just Valentine's Day, so you will probably be seeing a lot more samples of it to come!

  1. Lyssa, I love cards that are more “clean and simple” so I DEFINITELY think this is swap-worthy. It’s beautiful. I’d be swooning at the thought of owning a “Shelli swap” too! Please, pretty please, will you post a pic of it when you get it??

  3. Lyssa,
This swap is marvelous! It has that wonderful balance of business minded (clean & simple) but that Lyssa flair that we all love! It is the special details that makes it outstanding. I love the little pearls on the ribbon and the sponging to give it that Lyssa vintage style! A must for a SWAP from you! You have a WINNER and everyone will be thrilled to get it! You and your card are AWESOME my friend!

  4. This card is absolutely gorgeous! It may be simple, but it’s still over the top. I’ve been going crazy trying to figure what stamp set the flowers come from. Please let us know, I’d really like to CASE this one! Thanks so much for sharing and have a terrific time at the retreat, you so deserve it!

  6. Ohhhh, you are enabling me yet again, my friend!! I foresee another “Lyssa CASE” coming up in PA 😉 Thanks again for selling me the punch! Looking forward to using it to make some gift card holders – AND to put together some packets to have ready for prospective customers/recruits (see, your business blog advice is rubbing off!).
