Went into the stamp room this afternoon to work off some frustration. So irritated with Facebook and likewise irritated at the people telling me I shouldn't be irritated. Nothing like a little stamp therapy to ease annoyances. Except that often that means the cards turn out to be nothing I want shared with my name attached to them!
These are much better–at least I hope you think so!
This first one's actually a CASE–copy and share everything–yes, I DO do that occasionally, like once or twice a year. With a few minor tweaks, this is a card swap from Founder's Circle shared by Josee Smuck. I have since seen it two other places attributed to two different people, so it's just floating around cyberspace. But you can see why, right? It's awesome! The colors are Soft Suede and Pool Party, and I used two background stamps on this one–Woodgrain and EnFrancais. The clear-embossed leaf is from the new Holiday Mini 2011 Catalog set called Gently Falling.
Inspired by the colors in the Spice Cake Designer Series Papers, I stamped this card and added an embossed Designer Frame and some leaves from the Big Shot. I love the addition of Pool Party into the fall color scheme. It just really smartens everything up and modernizes it.
Fall's my favorite time of the year, so stay tuned for more autumnal goodness! And speaking of goodies, several of you Christmas Club ladies reminded me that I never posted the Soft Molasses Cookies recipe from the treats I made in August, so here it is! Glad you liked them! I CASE'd this creation, too, from a long-forgotten cookbook, tweaking it over the years to suit whatever I happened to have in the cupboard. They have just the right mix of spice to sweet.
Soft Molasses Cookies
1/2 C. butter
1/2 C. shortening
1 1/2 C. white sugar
1/2 C. molasses
2 eggs
1/2 t. salt
2 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
2 t. ginger
1 1/2 t. cloves
1 1/2 t. cinnamon
Cream everything together. Gradually mix in 4 cups flour (can do half white and half wheat if desired). Make 2 inch balls and flatten on the baking sheet with a glass cup bottom dipped in sugar. Bake for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees. Makes about 4 dozen. You can frost them by making a thin dipping icing of powdered sugar, water and vanilla extract if you want, but they really don't need it. Enjoy!
Love the cards! (as usual) Maybe you can work up a cookie holder (instead of candy) for the next meeting – those cookies sound too yummy to miss!
I agree with your frustrations on facebook. Love the cards…and I think your recipe sounds so yummy…and would be perfect with our new cookie stamps!!! thanks for sharing!
Lyssa, these cards are beautiful. I have to admit when I first saw the Spice Cake suite, I was (a) puzzled by the color choices and (b) didn’t like them. They weren’t fall colors to me – not like reds and oranges and golds and browns. But now I have seen so many BEAUTIFUL cards and other projects with them, I am IN LOVE with the whole suite. Guess what’s on my wish list now. LOL These cookies sound absolutely delicious, too. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
