Ahh… life is good! It's one of those super-rare Saturdays where we have no big plans, our computer is back up and running, everything is fresh after a huge thunderstorm last night, and there is coffee to be had… Join me for a cuppa this morning and I'll tell you all about these four paper-piecing cards made with the Perfect Blend and Gorgeous Grunge stamp sets!
Perfect Blend is a cute and inexpensive coffee-themed set with a travel cup and two sayings. OF COURSE it was on my first order from the new catalog! I only have one cup a day except on rare occasions, but how I do love that one cup! Life may not be better with coffee, but at least my eyes will be open so I can enjoy it!
Paper piecing is a super easy technique, if you've never tried it. You stamp the coffee cup once on your chosen cardstock, then again on vanilla or white for the lid, and then again on your patterned paper for the wrap. Hand-cut out the wrap and the lid and adhere them on the full cup.
Did you spot how I worked in some recycled materials in two of these cards? I used a torn piece of corrugated cardboard box as a background mat on the red card above and on the cream-colored card in the top photo. The corrugated part is quite thick, so if you incorporate pieces of cardboard box into your cards, make sure not to use other dimensionals or any sticky-uppy embellishments if you are planning to mail it.
I paired Perfect Blend with the cutting-edge new stamp set called Gorgeous Grunge–the drips and splatters are a natural for a coffee cup card. I know many of you took one look at this set and shook your heads, wondering what in the world anyone would use THAT for. And there aren't a ton of samples out on the interwebz made with it, because many demonstrators are going to get it for free at our national convention in a couple of weeks (!!) so most did not order it.
But I couldn't wait!! I'll be sharing cards all next week made with it. It's a must-have background stamp–you may not agree with me right now, but stick around and I think I'll have you convinced by the end of the week.
I have that stamp set. I so want to use it!!!
love love love it – cant wait to get this set! Bring on July 2!!
Hey Lyssa, Darling Perfect Blend cards! Check out my blog as I have used that Georgeous Grunge and just posted a card on my blog with it.
very nice cards!
GREAT cards! We are tea -not coffee- drinkers so I can’t say I will own this set but I LOVE what you have done with it. I especially love the second card, the one with the arrow clip on it. The Gorgeous Grunge set just made that card and it goes so well with the coffee cup! Fantastic work on these!
I’m with you on this one Lyssa, I ordered it as well! CUTE CUTE CARDS!!
Love your cards! I’ve been eying that set and it’s lookin’ like it’s gonna have to be in my stamp room at some point!
I don’t drink coffee but I do have this set at the top of my want list. People in my office drink coffee and they always look forward to a card with a coffee theme. Who knows, maybe this Christmas a box with four note cards in it like you just made with a coffee theme! I love all four of them! I have been known to visit our recycle box and pull off the wrap from them cups to use on their cards! Thanks for the inspiration!
