31 Pages in 31 Days: 8/12/13 + blog candy!

Can't believe I almost forgot to post this spread–it was the first one I made for this month's challenge! And we made it at Scrapbooking Summer school class last week, so my mail-only participants are patiently waiting for it to be posted so that they can hit the ground running when their packages arrive (most likely today). So without further ado–here it is!

This look is out of a lot of people's comfort zones, but I've always loved shabby chic, and the new Soho Subway papers with all the wonderful typeography and sassy Big Apple flair make me happy! The patterns are vintage and weathered, so we distressed the Blushing Bride background pages and Baked Brown Sugar and Bashful Blue mats to match the worn look.

I got to break out my brand new Morning Post alphabet stamps, combining them with silver Glimmer Paper die-cut with the Typeset Alphabet dies for the Big Shot to make my headline. You can see in this closeup that I used my FAVORITE new stamp set, Gorgeous Grunge, to bang up the pages even more!

I love the juxtaposition of bling and grunge… rhinestones on torn pieces of washi tape… glimmer paper next to splatters and sponging… torn strips of vintage papers. Everyone's page turned out slightly different depending on what patterns they  got in their kit, and which side of the double-sided papers they chose to go with.

My class attendees really enjoyed learning to make these great litle rosette flowers from the new Stretch Ruffle Trim. You start with a circle of sticky strip –I cut three smaller circles from each of our Jumbo Sticky Rounds–and work your way around the outer edge, then keep circling around and around until you get to the center. Top it off with a Vintage Facted "glass" Button and you have an elegant, flat, focal piece for your page.

OK! Thanks again for joining us on our 31-Day journey! Don't forget to leave a comment on any of the 31 Pages in 31 Days blog posts, one per day, to enter to win one of four weekly giveaways! Last week we gave away a free photopolymer stamp set to one lucky lady… week two's giveaway begins today. Post a comment below to enter the drawing for a free assortment pack of 12×12 In Color Cardstock and a sample of each of the new Ruffle Stretch Trim ribbons!

  1. This spread was really fun to make at class. It was well out of my comfort zone, but it turned out great. I changed my title and my layout a little from the sample provided to better suit my needs. All the little touches and embellishments made this page really work.

  3. I’m loving these scrapbook pages! I don’t “do” scrapbooking because I always feel it’s a bridge too far (and when my twins were little, the photos were everywhere…crumpled and gooey). But you always inspire me! I might play with you next year–gives me a year to work up the nerve and prep by getting some supplies laid up.

Want to make some of those. Would really like to do this layout! The grandaughters would look good on there 🙂
