It's Day Five and the final post in our blog series on last-minute Valentine ideas. Penni and I have enjoyed spending our week with you! Today's projects all feature the Party Pandas, which you can get for free with any $50 order from now through March 31st, 2018. They are SO adorable, you definitely won't be sorry you added them to your collection!
Whenever I need a flat, packable and inexpensive gift, I turn to Hershey's bars. Everyone likes them and they easy to wrap and decorate. My favorite variation uses a great ribbon trick to prevent the candy bar from slipping out, requiring no adherence to the candy itself. Nice!
Start with a 5.5 x 6.25 inch piece of cardstock and score at 1, 1.25, 3.75 and 4 inches. Hershey's bars are 1/4th of an inch thick, so that's easy! Fold into the shape of the candy bar and punch a 1/2 inch circle punch through both sides on ONE end. Adhere the long flap down with Tear & Tape or Multi Glue.
Cut about 14 inches of ribbon and thread through holes. Slide the candy bar in, taking the ribbon down with as it goes. When the candy is fully inserted, tie the ribbon off. You can now pull it out and push it in, without fear of it falling out!
Isn't that almost too easy? And then you can cut a 5.25 x 2.25 inch piece of white and stamp the decor for the front, adding a piece to the back if you want a space to write on and sign it. All of the hearts used in this series came from Heart Happiness, page 20 in the Spring mini catalog, which coordinates with the Sweet & Sassy Framelits diecuts.
Well, you knew we couldn't leave well enough alone… so we messed around and came up with a tri-fold candy holder-card combo! This card unfolds to the left, then the candy bar opens to the right, for a real WOW and honestly not that much more work than the single holder.
The Party Pandas are making everything more fun! I cut my balloon & string off my panda stamp (gasp! Can she DO that?) so that I can easily stamp multiple balloons, or add other shapes like the hearts used here. Then I just use my Journalling Pen to add the other strings.
Create the Tri-Fold Candy Bar Card in the same way you made the single holder, but start with a 6×12 inch piece of cardstock for the base.
The side with the little half-inch flap goes to the right, and those first two panels will become the candy bar slot. When you punch the 1/2 inch circle for the ribbon, make sure you're only punching through those two panels (ask us how we know!)
It was past time for us to put the M&M's away (ahem), so we got them all packaged up in Treat Tubes for one more panda project. Five tubes fit perfectly in a Clear Envelope, if you don't have time to make a holder. Just tie with a ribbon and a cute tag. Perfect for last second Valentine goodies!
See my pink thumb? You can definitely tell what colors of ink I've been using this week! I have put the Chalk Marker to good use lately covering up my smudges. Something about red ink just makes even the neatest stamper get grubby. And I am FAR from the neatest stamper! Penni is dying laughing about now….
Thank you so much for your kind attention this week! Penni and I really hope you've thoroughly enjoyed our collaboration. Leave us a comment and let us know what other holidays you'd love to see a series on.
Great ideas for year round! Thanks for sharing such fun candy gifting ideas! ❤️
I have enjoyed your projects AND the descriptions of them because of the fun you two were obviously having! Great job and I can’t wait for your next “Last Minute” adventure. Thanks!
Cute projects! I don’t know which one to make first! I have not made the candy bar slider one yet and it looks like so much fun to make and to receive. I had some heart stickers and used them as balloons with the pandas for hospitalized kids valentine’s. Just too cute. I still have some of the PP test tubes and might have to copy your cute idea. Thanks for sharing your talent with us. Darn, I am craving chocolate all of a sudden!
I’d to see a Mother’s Day series. So many things in the catalog CAN be used for Mother’s Day but never the SPREAD like for Father’s Day. I want special folds, paper, envelopes, embossing, on & on. I want it all Ladies!!!!
I LOVE that candy holder and card in one project. While I genuinely love the projects you two share in your blog series, your friendship with each other is what makes the series fun and unique! The fun and ease you two share comes through in your blog posts and it makes your projects that much more fun.
I would love to see a series on lunchbox surprises, for husbands and children/teens, not only packaging for food, but fun ways to make tiny love missives.
