31 Pages in 31 Days: Vintage Wedding Page

2015 31 Pages in 31 Days SOMHS header-001

Welcome to the first day of 31 Pages in 31 Days: August 2015 Edition! I am so excited it is finally here. I look forward to 31 Pages in 31 Days all year long! There is nothing like a solid chunk of time to immerse yourself in all things scrapbooking, for getting things DONE and in the albums.Vintage Wedding Page

We're kicking off the month with a doozie. This page was created with bits and pieces leftover from my Inspire.Create. Share. Convention presentation in Salt Lake City last month. I just couldn't get enough of working with all that vintage loveliness, so I had to pull together a page. It was just right for an old wedding photo I had taken out of a broken frame and decided not to put back up. So yes, that's ME in the photo, at age twenty. Crazy, huh?

My wedding was rose and sage themed middle-Victorian, so the vanilla and black Timeless Elegance papers with Blushing Bride and Mint Macaroon colors sponged in were perfect.

In keeping with the vintage look, I used mismatching embellishments, grouping them in clusters and adding layer after layer of texture in long pennants. Less is not more when working with vintage! I snagged the sentiment from a new Stampin' Up stamp set called Me=Grateful. I love how you can color in the outlined words with any color marker you want, to make it really match your vision for the project.

I also frayed my silk seam binding ribbon for age, and melted small areas on my lace with the Heat Tool to scrunch it up and add even more texture and movement to the page. TIP: Did you know you can use the Heat Tool to curl or melt any ribbons with synthetic fibers? Cool, huh?!

One last touch on this page. I stamped the large flourish from Flowering Flourishes in Blushing Bride ink (appropriate, eh?), right on the patterned paper. I also used the dotted splatter from Gorgeous Grunge. When it was dry, I painted Dazzlin' Details glimmer glue on the flourishes using a paintbrush. So the flourish here is actually raised and glittery, adding wonderful visual interest and texture.
