Howdy, y'all! Thanks for joining me for another day in 31 Pages in 31 Days! August is just FLYING past, and while I'm still getting a page a day done (mostly) I'm not always getting it photographed, edited and blogged! But here's day 19, a dab late, anyway.
I've been feeling the lack of travel in my life. I really need the change of scenery (and a lack of technology close to hand) to break up the ruts I get into! I made this layout even though I haven't been to Maui (yet!!) because I just needed to do it to remind myself someday travel will return. It may look different, but we'll be able to go places just for fun again, and take the trips we worked hard to earn.
The papers totally inspired the sunset theme. They are six by six sheets from the Playing with Patterns stack, pieced together to make a 12×12 page reminiscent of sea and sunset. I raided all my leaf dies to find different pieces for the silhouetted flora. I may go back and add some hand-cut larger palm fronds, not quite happy with some of the proportions.
I used rectangular pieces of Whisper White cut with the Layering Squares dies to create little faux "Polaroid" frames to scatter on my layout, an oldie but goodie technique you can also mimic with a paper trimmer.
Wish the glimmer on the letters showed up better in the photos! They are all shiny and sparkly with Shimmery Crystal Effects. The gleam is complemented by a sprinkle of Elegant Faceted Gems in white.
See you tomorrow for Day 20! #31pagesin31days
I think your sunset is so pretty. I also like the black leaves. Very striking!
