31 Pages in 31 Days: Sail Away layout and card

SSS 2019 Header-001

Hello, scrappers! Welcome back to our 17th day of immersion-style scrapbooking, 2019 edition! I've committed to a whole month of glorious mess as I try to get a page a day done every day during August. Are you playing along? Hope so! If not, pin the ideas for later and just enjoy looking.

Today's inspiration page is a masculine nautical theme spread that uses cardmaking techniques to decorate the layout. Sometimes people think they can't scrapbook–but if you can make a card, you can make a page! The only difference is the size of the background you're working on.

To create this spread for Week Four of Scrapbooking Summer School, I started with great Pretty Peacock patterned woven-look background papers. A 6 x 11 inch mat of Crumb Cake goes down the left hand side of the page, with the title grouping to the lower right of it. The vertical mat is imitated on the right hand page, but broken up by two colors and an embellishment grouping. There is space for an additional photo on the left page (Maybe a round one?) if needed.

Decorating a page is so similar to cardmaking. You have a base, a color scheme, a background and layered elements on top, all finished off with embellishments. Imagine this exact page done with fall leaf stamps instead. It works!

That's it from me today–I have 24 ladies coming on Monday to start their Christmas cards for the year! The four designs we'll be making are SO cute–I'll be sure to share after they've had their surprise.

If you need a Holiday mini catalog and don't have a demonstrator serving your needs, I hope you'll email me and accept one free of charge. I'd hate for anyone to miss the stinkin' adorable must-have new stamps, papers and accessories in this year's fall/winter selection. Lyssa@songofmyheartstampers.com

See you tomorrow, crafty chicks!
