Hastag Cute SOMHS Dot Technique

Today's post is going to start off a little different from the others–with a fun and easy technique for you! I wanted to use some Pumpkin Pie colored paper as my base for this layout, but I didn't have any coordinating patterns to pair with it. And it really needed something to break it up. So, I took a piece of Moonlight paper from the Designer Series Paper Stack that had these fun dots all over it. The dots were shades of Basic Gray, Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon–all colors that go great with Pumpkin Pie–IF I could incorporate that orange into the pattern.

Well, God bless whoever invented sponge daubers! It was SOOOO easy to add big polka dots of Pumpkin Pie ink to that paper. Just dab the dauber in the ink pad, press straight down on the paper, and give it a little twist as you pull it back up. It was so fun I had to stop myself from adding way too many polka dots!

Hastag Cute SOMHS Spread

So here's how my finished spread came out. The orange dots, background paper and stamped title are just enough orange, cooled off with the Lost Lagoon and Whisper White, and kept summery with So Saffron. I love how this layout pulled together, with all the squared mats–so trendy.

I did not have any matching embellishments in ANY of these colors (clearly, I need to place another order STAT!) so I made my own with circle punches, and the fun Baker's Twine technique called Spirelli. You can see a tutorial on that easy technique here.

My kids are so darn adorable, I could title ALL my scrapbook pages with #cute, but I guess that might get old, huh? I used the Larger than Life alphabet stamps for this headline. It was super simple and non-aggravating to line up because all our alphabet stamps come in clear photopolymer now. Love that!
