Welcome, dear crafty friends, to the very first day of 31 Pages in 31 Days, our annual blog series on immersion scrapbooking! If this is your first time through, sit back and enjoy a parade of pages as I share a scrapbook layout every single day in August 2017!
Not a scrapbooker? Never fear! You will not be out of luck for a month. You're going to see plenty of up-close inspiration, creative ways to use embellishments, stamps, die-cuts and more. I'll be posting all the typical features you've come to know and love from Song of My Heart.
It's going to be a CRAZY ride for the next 31 days, so hang on to your hats! Let's do this!
REMINDER: My pages are just for inspiration–you can play along by making a page today on ANY topic you want, and sharing a pic on the Facebook support group or on Instagram with the hashtag #31pagesin31days.
Today's share is a single page we'll be making in Scrapbooking Summer School this week. I made mine for a cabin spread, but other headlines that would fit would be camp, hike, lake, woods, drive, lodge, etc. Instead of using the die-cut leaves, I used the "negative" leftover cardstock to let the paper underneath show through the Old Olive layer.

One of the fun things about this page is how the layers are cut. You will notice, if you stick around Song of My Heart very long, that I can't STAND putzy measurements. It just saps all the joy out of papercrafting for me. So I designed this page to use two card-base-sized half sheets of 8.5×11 plus a strip of 8.5×2.5 inches and a square of 2.5×2.5. NO WASTE! This is my kind of project.
There we have it! Our first day of 31 Pages in 31 Days. I hope you will join us for Day Two, tomorrow, and a Christmassy spread with an easy motif that works for birthday pages, too. Thanks for stopping by!

Even though school is starting (I’m a teacher), and we’re helping our son move this weekend, I’m IN. I cleaned and re-organized my stamping/scrapbooking room this summer, then I went to a crop last weekend, and the scrapping bug is back. I realize how much I’ve missed scrapbooking. Thanks for posting layout ideas; I’m going to need them.
This is the first time I will be participating because I just recently found your site. So my first impression about the no fussy measurements and no waste … FANTASIC. I have seen some layouts that look so involved and intricate that it is kind of scary. So thank you for making it so clear and easy.
I love how you used the negative space from the leaves. I think that would look cool on a card, too!
Love it! Maybe I will give it a try again. Thanks.
This year I am going to make it to 31!! Page #1 is done;30 to go.
This is my first time participating in this. Can’t wait for my kit to arrive so I can work on these pages.
Holy potatoes! What good fun I had today creating my very first scrapbook page ever. Thanks Lyssa for the inspiration… Love love love it!
This is the first time I have participated in this. I am definitely excited about the concept of this project. I will be getting out my photos, papers and cutters and having a special place for them all month. Thank you for the inspiration.
Perfect! We rented cabins at a lake with friends this summer, and the women went in together for a separate scrapbooking cabin. Can’t wait to get this and put pictures on it.
I came across your scrapbooking pages earlier this year via Pinterest. I have been waiting (not so) patiently to see what you had in store for 31 Pages in 31 Days this year!!
I love your paper saving techniques and how you make things look so great but they arre really so easy to do!
Love the template, so easy to modify for any layout!
Perfect!
