Welcome to Song of My Heart Stampes and the 31 Pages in 31 Days summer blog series challenge! Are you up to it? Join the others taking the challenge to get a page done each day in August 2015, for a total of at least 31 more pages done by the end of the month. We are doing GREAT! And having FUN.
Each day this month I'm posting an inspiration page–my own page for the challenge, and hopefully a help to you all as you look for layout ideas, color combos, and fun ways to use your pretty papers. Today's Day Eight page started with a sheet of 12×12 Pistachio Pudding and two large-ish scraps of Cherry on Top patterned paper. Cucumber Crush makes a great darker version of Pistachio Pudding, so the color coordination was good. The other colors were Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Whisper White and Crushed Curry.
I absolutely ADORE (no, that's not too strong of a word) the new wooden elements from Stampin' Up. I use the "thanks" ones on card, and the "congrats" and "celebrate" ones are perfect on pages. You can change the color if you want, using Sharpies or markers, but I left mine plain for this layout since I was using an eclectic variety of embellishments.
For this fun little page element below, I punched out three hearts in a row from a strip of Whisper White cardstock, then put a strip of Glimmer Paper behind the openings. I could have just punched Glimmer Paper hearts and layered them on, but this gives a different layer of texture as well as saves paper.
It felt great using up scraps for this page! When my scrap bin gets too full, it becomes difficult to efficiently use them up, so every once in a while I will go through and challenge myself to make up a card or a layout with some particular piece. It's a challenge, and sometimes you come up with something really cool out of it. That would make a good weekend challenge for yourself!
